Sheville | A Progressive Women's News Site - Sell Project

Overview Sheville.org is a digital magazine covering progressive news impacting women within the context of racial, gender, educational, and social/economic justice. Established in 2002, this site is dedicated to providing the latest news and current issues affecting women today. Sheville has also become known as a place for journalists to submit their content for fair pay and working conditions. History Sheville.org was started with a primary focus in the local market of Asheville, North Carolina. The original founding team was active in the community representing women and LGBTQ rights. Sheville was created as a hub of information related to their mission including news summaries, events and local businesses to support. In 2020, a team of young women acquired the business with the goal to bring a local activism site national. They immediately set to work on a full redesign that included heartier content, traffic cleanup, brand positioning and full modernization. Unfortunately, upon completion of the newly designed site and brand strategy personal life changes prohibited the team from following through with the new business development model. This is an established site with a modern appeal that has lots of upward potential. Upside Potential The advertising plan has not been executed, but can be easily done by the new owner. Adding advertising back into the site, along with proactive use of the newsletter & existing social media accounts, has the potential to start earning revenue immediately.
