About RemoteDeskOpt — Self-Hosted Remote Desktop
Self-hosted Windows remote desktop with server, admin panel and source code.
RemoteDeskOpt is a self-hosted remote desktop software project for organizations that want to run their own connection broker, relay and administration services. The project combines a native Windows client with a deployable server stack and centrally managed access and usage policies. Asking price: USD 19,000 for the complete project. Revenue: USD 0. Paying customers: 0. This is a software asset acquisition at evaluation stage. There is no established recurring revenue being offered. HOW THE PRODUCT WORKS An administrator deploys the server on a LAN or hosting server and configures clients with its HTTPS address and trusted certificate. Each registered computer receives a 12-digit device code. An operator enters the remote computer's code; the remote user approves the request and session permissions. The clients then establish an encrypted desktop session. The transport includes direct P2P negotiation with relay fallback, subject to network and firewall conditions. Configured unattended access is also supported. WINDOWS CLIENT Native graphical interface with English as the default language and Russian available. Remote screen viewing, keyboard and mouse control, and monitor selection. Adaptive video pipeline with H.264, fallback/refinement image paths and bounded frame buffering. No universal FPS or bandwidth claim is made. Recent connections with search by name or device code and editable labels. A separate incoming-consent window with a one-minute countdown and per-session permission choices. Two-pane file transfer interface, progress reporting and cancellation. Text clipboard exchange and a single-file Windows Explorer copy/paste transfer workflow. Folder, multi-file and network-share clipboard transfers are outside the current scope. Optional remote system-output audio using WASAPI and Opus; microphone capture is not part of this feature. Windows service/helper integration for privileged operations, Ctrl+Alt+Del and permission-gated power actions. Interactive acceptance for all elevated-window and secure-desktop scenarios remains to be completed. SERVER AND ADMINISTRATION Self-hosted broker, encrypted relay transport and PostgreSQL storage. Web administration for device inventory, online status, active sessions, session history, device revocation and session termination. Server-controlled global and per-device licensing settings: daily usage allowances, configurable timezone/midnight reset, trial periods and duration-based client keys. Client key issuance, inspection and revocation through the administrator interface. A payment-link UI and licensing mechanisms are included. Automatic payment-provider integration is not supplied. Organization-oriented administration pages are included alongside the local-server administration panel. SECURITY DESIGN Implemented controls include HTTPS/WSS, an identity-signed session handshake, authenticated end-to-end payload encryption, replay checks, permission enforcement and authenticated Windows service commands. The Docker stack includes internal mutual TLS configurations. First-contact peer trust uses TOFU. These are implemented design measures, not an independent security certification or a claim that the application has no vulnerabilities. WHAT THE BUYER RECEIVES The proposed sale covers the seller-owned RemoteDeskOpt project assets: source repository and development history, Windows client and service components, broker/relay/admin source, build and packaging scripts, MSI distribution, Docker deployment files and prebuilt image archive, public evaluation certificates, automated tests, English setup documentation, interface screenshots and branding configuration. The buyer can continue development, rebrand the product and build a commercial offering, subject to the final transfer agreement and applicable third-party licenses. Existing third-party dependencies retain their own licenses. Personal accounts, private deployment credentials and production signing certificates are not included. DEPLOYMENT AND TECHNICAL STACK The codebase is primarily Rust, with an egui Windows UI, a PostgreSQL-backed server and HTML/CSS/JavaScript administration pages. Windows distribution uses MSI. Server deployment uses Docker Compose with PowerShell/Python setup tooling. A central branding manifest and rebranding tools are included. Changing the product brand requires rebuilding the deliverables. CURRENT STATUS AND KNOWN LIMITATIONS An unsigned evaluation MSI and a standalone Docker kit are available. Installation and executable integrity were verified on the development Windows host and a Hyper-V Windows 11 guest. Automated client, service, licensing and packaging checks are included. Windows 10 is a target platform but has not had a separate acceptance run. Production signing, independent security assessment, broader WAN/long-duration performance testing and remaining interactive Windows acceptance work are outstanding. The distributed server kit uses a self-issued 30-day laborator...
