About ShovelScout
Find Reddit and forum posts where people ask for what you sell.
A keyword alert tells you something was mentioned. ShovelScout tells you what someone is asking for. ShovelScout searches public posts and comments across Reddit, Hacker News and business forums. It surfaces the ones where a person is asking for something: looking for a tool, asking for a recommendation, hunting for an alternative, or stuck on how to handle a problem. Every result carries a short label so you can tell at a glance what the poster is after: wants a tool, asks how to do something, or is just discussing. You decide who is worth answering. Each result links straight back to the original thread. We show titles, links and short excerpts only, and we never republish anyone's full post. New threads and comments are indexed on a 5-minute cycle. Search is free without an account, up to 10 searches a day from the same address. Paid plans search the same library, up to 300 searches a day counted on your account. It is built for people who answer questions in public communities to find their next customers: founders, indie developers, agencies and consultants. What is different is that it returns what each poster is asking for rather than where a phrase appeared, and every result links back to the thread it came from. One thing it cannot do: it only reads public posts, so private groups and paid communities are out of reach. Missing a community you care about? Ask us and we will add it.
