Debator is a functional Telegram bot MVP where users practice argumentation and logic through gamified debates. It works as an educational tool and a platform for English learners to improve their speaking/writing skills under an AI Judge. Tech Stack & Architecture: Backend: Python (aiogram, asyncio, aiosqlite) with an asynchronous database setup. 3 Game Modes: vs AI (selectable difficulty levels); vs Friend (via invite links, with custom topics, positions, and countdown timers); Matchmaking (pairs random online opponents using an Elo rating logic). AI Judging (DeepSeek via DeepInfra): The bot uses a custom, highly-tested system prompt with DeepSeek-V4-Flash. At the end of a debate, the LLM analyzes the raw chat history, rates both players on Logic, Rhetoric, and Toxicity, and provides structured feedback. The AI outputs a clean JSON object, which the bot parses into clean Telegram formatting. Operational Costs & Profit Margin: The maintenance cost is near zero. Running on DeepInfra’s pricing ($0.09 input / $0.18 output per 1M tokens) for DeepSeek-V4-Flash, 1,000 active monthly players cost just $0.42 in API fees (based on an average of 2.9M input and 0.9M output tokens) + $3 for a basic VPS.
