Classroom - Sell Project

(Quick pitch)   Classroom is a mobile (iPhone/iPad) student planner for middle and high school students with a web-based dashboard for administrators to easily customize the app for their schools. It's meant to replace the paper-based student planners that schools typically distribute to their students. I built Classroom when I was 14 for my own middle school and gave it to a few other schools for free—it's since received around 30,000 downloads and been used in six schools, including one that paid $2000, unprompted, because it saved them a ton of money on paper-based planners!   (More info)   Classroom includes five features to help students stay organized: a calendar that automatically loads school events, a customized bell schedule view, a todo list for assignments and due dates, a hall pass feature with beautifully-designed hall passes that change color to indicate how much time students have used, and a place for students to view uploaded PDF files with lunch menus, school maps, student handbooks, etc.   On the administrator side, here's how it works: a principal or teacher purchases Classroom, enters some basic information in the online administrator dashboard (links a Google Calendar for school events, uploads an Excel spreadsheet for bell schedules, optionally uploads PDF's with lunch menus, school maps, and student handbooks), and gets a five character code to give to students. Students then download the app, enter the code, and the app immediately pulls down school info for them.   Classroom makes students' lives easier because it eliminates the need for them to carry around bulky student planners and automatically fills in as much information as possible (school events, bell schedules, etc.) so that they don't have to. It helps teachers and administrators keep their students organized, and uses technology to make it easier for them to deal with things that typically cause them headaches: making sure that students aren't skipping class or abusing hall passes, announcing school events, and distributing documents like student handbooks and school maps. It also saves schools a ton of money since they don't have to purchase physical student planners, which typically cost ~$5/student/year (this can quickly add up for a large high school).   Over the years, I've also received a ton of inbound interest from other schools, including several who offered to pay for the app to integrate it into their 1:1 device strategy, but I didn't have the bandwidth throughout high school to support the app for these schools, so I turned down the interest. I'm now in college (studying CS at Stanford) and just don't have time to maintain and grow the app, so I'm selling it to an interested buyer. I'm confident that there's a huge opportunity here—so many schools have reached out and even offered to pay for the app but I was too busy to keep running and growing it—so I'm looking forward to speaking with you!
