About Earlia: AI-powered early detection of Alzheimer's
Ready-to-launch research study app that auto collects health data
Earlia is designed to allow users to easily share their health data with the organisation, contribute to research and eventually, discover the likelihood that they have Alzheimer's. The product is currently ready for a research study. Users can download the app, add a few details about themselves and the product will then automatically collect the health data they've allowed to be shared. This data is then stored anonymously on Earlia's Firebase server, enabling research to be carried out to look for a correlation between those with the disease and certain health changes. This Flutter app is ready to be rolled out (already launched on Google Play here, needs ethical approval on the Apple App Store). Why did we build this? 62% of people with Alzheimer’s right now will never receive a diagnosis. Until now, the value of the disease’s early detection was limited. With the very exciting recent discoveries related to immunotherapy-based treatment however, there is an immediate need to detect the disease and in particular, detect it as early as possible. Our hypothesis is that there may be slight shifts in the patterns of physiological & behavioural indicators such as someone's heartbeat, breathing rate, gait and sleeping patterns. We built an app, Earlia, that aims to eventually look for a correlation between those with Alzheimer's and a pattern in these indicators. What could this be used for? Other than the specified problem, the product is perfectly set up for many research studies, as the forms can be easily modified to collect other data and then either make use of the automatic health data collection system or swap it out for something else. What stage is this at? This product is ready for collecting data, however it should be noted that the buyer is responsible for ensuring the tool meets any ethical approval requirements in the country where research is being conducted. Research has already indicated a correlation between many of the health indicators we are analysing and Alzheimer’s disease. For example, in recent studies, elevated resting heart rate was associated with incident dementia in older adults, and adults in the very early stages of AD may show signs of balance and gait deficits. Having said this, this has not been proven yet and the seller is selling the code "as is" and detailed research needs to be conducted to establish whether the premise is possible and whether this app could be an effective tool. This product has not gone through the process yet of being approved as a medical device.
Next step:
Clinical Trials & Regulatory Approval:

Pursue the current strategy by conducting clinical trials to validate Earlia's effectiveness and pursue regulatory approvals for wider adoption in healthcare settings.

Use for any research study purposes:

Other than the specified problem, the product is perfectly set up for many research studies, as the forms can be easily modified to collect other data and then either make use of the automatic health data collection system or swap it out for something else.
