About GradeHack.com: Grade Results Comparison Site

Unique website shown to have product market fit with big opportunities to scale

Almost every university course lets students pick at least some of their modules (ie. classes), but what students quickly realise is the modules they pick can heavily influence their success, as some are much easier to be successful in than others. GradeHack.com solves this issue by making it super easy for students to compare how students who have taken the modules previously performed. When GradeHack was launched at Exeter University in the UK, word-of-mouth quickly spread news of it and within a matter of weeks, 92% of eligible students had accessed the site and ⅓ of the entire student population had accessed the site without any paid marketing (there has been no marketing since, hence current monthly users are negligible). How much does it cost to run? Except for the annual domain renewal and basic website hosting…nothing! How is the data collected? Data is collected legally via freedom of information requests.

Project details

Built with: CSS/HTML,Wordpress

Website: https://gradehack.com/

Next step:  - Data analysis & ML (data cleanly & consistently stored, a fascinating opportunity to predict success on even a university level as well as a module level) - Scale the sh*t out of it! (GradeHack solves a global problem yet has only been deployed to a tiny, tiny fraction of potential users) - Monetise it (this was the first product where we instantly realised we had product market fit. We see a great opportunity to pay for access - perhaps via a freemium or paid-only model) - SEO (something we wish we had focused on)
