The #moot site collects tweets that use the #moot hashtag (for 'Marks Out Of Ten') that contain a score, and puts these tweets in a searchable database. This database can then be queried using the textbox on the main page, and - importantly - the score that's displayed is the average of all the scores that match the query text. As an example, if you tweeted: 'I hate nachos 1/10 #moot' And I tweeted: 'Nachos are awesome: 8/10 #moot' Then a search on the hashmoot.com main page would show a score of 4.5 out of ten for nachos, 4.5 being the average of the two scores 8 and 1. (Why don't you like nachos anyway? Hmm?) There's a lot of power in providing an aggregated score for search terms. For instance, a user could compare the scores given to the delivery services 'Citylink' and 'Parcelforce', maybe even exploring the most recent tweets scoring those couriers. It can also give a voice to those tweeting the scores beyond the audience who would normally see their tweets. I have some ideas on future directions the concept could take but it's pretty clear I don't know what to do from a marketing/publicity perspective. The first version is delivered and is collecting tweets. I'm comfortable with all the technical aspects of the site. I just don't know how to go about getting people to use it, or which future direction is the right one. I'd toyed with the idea of submitting this in the Seeking Collaborator category or For Sale category (I'm open to both possibilities) but I'm not specifically coming here looking to sell or find someone to collaborate with and I didn't want anyone to think I was leading them on. I really think #moot a good idea, but please tell me if it's not! Aside: as a bit of fun during Eurovision, some of us live-tweeted scores for each of the acts. The site was able to collect the marks each act was given and aggregate them into an overall score, and then display the live scores while the contest was ongoing. This seemed to be fun for those of us tweeting, and you can see how our marks compared with the actual positions here: http://hashmoot.com/eurovision2015scores The server stayed up and aggregated the scores just fine, but the Eurovision event did require some custom programming on the web site.
