Reading does pay, after all - Sell Project

1. Seller Bio I am an author and have over 8 years of experience in the publishing company. I used to own my own independent publishing company that I sold to my business partner.  2. Executive Summary In my years as a publisher and author, the burning question for my business was how to generate enough word of mouth at a budget so that new, debut authors can get a foot in the door competing against the big 4 publishing companies. After years of mulling about how to generate the much needed reviews on eretailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc without resorting to paid reviews (pay to generate good reviews), I finally realized the simple formula - it's like airmiles but are actually readermiles. The more books the reader reads from the website's catalog, the more reader miles they earn. And if the reader posts the reviews on eretailers like amazon, they get bonus points. The points then can be redeemed for items in the rewards catalog. The rewards could be gift cards, more books, bookish items, coupons, etc. The sky is the limit. Every time a reward is redeemed, the equivalent is reduced from the reader's balance.  The website is built on Wix code and is hosted on Wix. It's in working order and I have performed beta with some authors.  The idea is to charge authors for posting their book for review on the website. It could be author packages based on number of books they put up on site and duration OR number of copies available for review OR for a certain number of reviews. It's open. I was leaning towards number of copies.  3. Highlights This model has generated positive interest from both readers and authors. This plugs a gap and has immense potential when marketed well. I believe Facebook and Instagram advertising, where a lot of readers and authors market, is the best medium for this.  Strengths 1. A gap in the indie book market that is being catered to - generate honest reviews on eretailers to give indie authors a fair chance to gain visibility on Amazon and other sites.  2. Website development is complete and it can be launched on day one.  Opportunities 1. With marketing, this could be a huge market for readers, authors and publishers. 2. This could be expanded to reviews of anything, not just books. That's why the business name choosen was generic enough.  3. Collect enough data about reader member habits to provide audience preference data to businesses.  4. Operations If you are not making any change to the website, all that you would need to focus on is marketing. I believe there might be emails from users in the future once the user base grows. 5. Customers Readers and authors. Both are generally very loyal to a site if it works for them.  6. Financials No revenue yet as it was in beta phase. 7. Seller Notes I love this idea and I have spent a lot in getting in developed but I soon realized I better at operations than the whole marketing/entreprenuer thing. It saddens me to put it on market as it has been a labor of love but I would rather see this blossom by someone else.
