About Clue Stash
Type a crossword clue, get the answer, definition and past appearances
Clue Stash is a free, fast crossword clue search. Type any clue and you get the answer, a short one-line dictionary definition, and every past puzzle where that clue appeared. That makes it useful both for getting unstuck and for learning the words behind recurring crosswordese. The site also has clue stats: the most common answers, the most reused clues, answers grouped by length, and answers shared between the full crossword and the mini. It's a static site rebuilt and deployed every day by an automated pipeline. Puzzle data is indexed into clue and answer pages, definitions come from WordNet, and it's hosted on Cloudflare Pages. There are no accounts, no paywall, and it loads quickly on mobile. I built it as a small side project to make clue lookup cleaner than the ad-heavy answer sites. Feedback is welcome.
