About HostelPunk
Find social hostels through guest reviews, with bed bug and safety warnings.
HostelPunk helps backpackers and solo travelers find hostels where guests actually meet each other. It ranks hostels using what people write about the social side of their stay. The Punk Score comes from review text. Review-integrity signals can lower a hostel's rank, while bed bug and safety reports appear as separate dated warnings with the quoted reviews. Missing reports are not a guarantee of safety. Travelers can browse destinations, compare hostels and read the evidence behind the rankings. The site is free to use and available in seven languages. I built and run HostelPunk solo, using Go, HTMX, Python, PostgreSQL and DuckDB. The public site is live at hostelpunk.com.
