About Stack & Save — Grocery Savings App
Stack coupons and rebates across 17 US grocery chains to find the cheapest cart.
Stack & Save is a working grocery savings app. Shoppers build a basket and the app prices it across 17 US grocery chains in 6 regions, stacking sale prices, store coupons, manufacturer coupons, and rebates under each store's stacking rules — then recommends the cheapest single store or a two-store split. What's included: full source code (React + TypeScript client, server actions, Drizzle ORM with 6 migrations, SQLite database), a seeded catalog of 286 products across 16 categories with 95 deal rows and product images, the coupon-stacking comparison engine, a UPC barcode scanner flow, and Stripe wiring for the paid 'Checkout Saver' tier ($7/month: coupon auto-matching, checkout comparison, split finder, price alerts — server-side gated). Verified by a 65-point battery test (64 passed): comparison and split math exact, all 20 input-validation gates reject bad input, the free-tier paywall holds, UPC flows work, and the catalog, stores, and deals were verified in the database. The app does not process checkout itself — it hands the shopper off to the retailer's own site to pay, so there is no payment/PCI burden. Reason for selling: the builder runs a music label and several other software ventures and is focusing there; Stack & Save was never commercially launched. Financials (honest): $0 revenue, pre-revenue, never launched publicly, no users. Disclosures — please read: Catalog prices are planning estimates, not live retailer prices. The 286 product images ship with the app but their licenses were never cleared — the buyer should re-source or re-license them before commercial use. Stripe is wired but not connected; the buyer connects their own Stripe keys. The UPC scanner was tested on desktop only. Comparison features sit behind the paid tier by design — the free tier's empty comparison view is the paywall, not a bug. One minor known issue: removing a basket item can leave orphaned quote rows in the database (the schema declares cascade delete but SQLite foreign-key enforcement is off). No user-facing breakage; it is a one-line fix. 30 days of email handover support from the builder is included.
