About Vilo — your car earns while you work (carsharing)
Owners share the car for the hours they don't need it; photo proof at both ends.
Vilo's pitch to car owners: park at the office at 8, get the car back by 5:30, get paid for the hours in between. Each car carries a share window — days, hours, a return-by time and a return spot — and the server enforces it: a renter can't start a trip outside the window or too close to the owner's return time, and the trip screen shows "Back by 17:30 · 2 h left" with a late state. Full-time sharing works too. Every trip is bracketed by timestamped photo proof and one account works for both renting and hosting. Full renter path, all working: map → car → reserve (hold timer) → guided pickup with photo proof → ride (timer, running cost, telemetry) → guided return with photo proof and return-zone gate → trip archive with receipt. Host side from the same account: Garage, listings, share window, review flow, Payouts. Return policies: fixed spot, drop-off zones, floating one-way return inside a service-area polygon. Internal/admin surfaces separated from consumer routes, release-readiness checks, and a city simulator for end-to-end rehearsal. 270 TypeScript modules, typecheck + lint + route smoke suite. Try it: the whole trip in 5 minutes without an account at vilo-n552.vercel.app/login?demo=1 — a 3D map of downtown Louisville, five demo cars, pickup proof, ride, return. Tech stack: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Supabase (Postgres, RLS, 30 migrations), Mapbox GL (3D buildings), Vercel, optional Tesla Fleet API. Market context (Sep 2026): Turo pulled its IPO and cut staff, Getaround closed its US business, Kyte shut down — while Turo's US summer bookings rose 21% YoY. Turo is steering hosts to advance, long, low-risk trips; the everyday local trip and the trust problem around it are what it is walking away from. A local operator with a trust layer and the "earn while you work" owner pitch is the gap. Included: full source, Supabase project, Vercel project, brand, landing, demo fleet, 30 days of hand-over. Runs for under $50/month. Pre-revenue. Open to equity or earn-out structures for the right buyer.
