LetterKing is a live, public leaderboard for newsletters. It gives independent newsletter creators a simple, transparent way to get in front of readers who are looking for something new to subscribe to. Here's how it works. A creator claims a spot on the board by placing a bid, starting at $10. The board is ordered by bid, so a higher bid moves a newsletter higher. Every position is public, so creators can see where they stand and what it takes to move up. Readers can browse the board for free and find newsletters that are actively putting themselves forward. The competition runs in three rounds, each lasting 30 days. Round 1 is live now. Each round works as a qualification stage, and the champion of Round 3 gets a permanent champion page and badge on LetterKing, a lasting marker they can point to long after the rounds end. LetterKing is built for newsletter creators on any platform, including Substack, beehiiv, Ghost, Kit and self-hosted setups, who want discovery without a big ad budget or a long wait for an algorithm to notice them. Instead of a black-box recommendation feed, the ranking rules are simple and visible to everyone: claim a position, defend it, or bid higher to climb.
