StockMarketStack is a catalogue of software and data for people who manage their own money: market data APIs, charting platforms and screeners, portfolio trackers, backtesting frameworks, trade journals, MCP servers, time-series databases for tick data, and analysis libraries. Every tool gets the same blocks — price as a number, what the free tier actually allows, market and history coverage, data latency, interfaces, licence — across 12 categories, so the same question is answered in the same place on every card. Each block carries the date it was last checked against the vendor's own docs and pricing, and a field nobody verified is left blank rather than filled in with a plausible number. 150 tools so far: 112 have a free tier, 40 ship an MCP server, 30 are open source. Filter the whole catalogue in one flat list instead of reading ten listicles, or slice it the other way — open source, self-hosted, real-time, spreadsheet add-ins. Long-form guides cover the part that decides whether a tool is usable at all: exchange data fees, security identifiers, index licensing, what is genuinely free. Plus "what to use instead" pages for products that shut down or changed their terms.
