AniMate Waifu - Showcase Project

What it is AniMate Waifu is a desktop companion app for Windows and macOS. It puts a 3D anime character on top of your desktop as a transparent, always-on-top overlay that can be set click-through, so it never blocks your windows. The idea behind it is that the character should be yours. The app imports VRM 0.x and VRM 1.0 model files, including exports from VRoid Studio, so a character you built, commissioned or downloaded can live on your desktop instead of only inside a story. PMX and FBX files need converting to VRM first. What is built today A free tier with built-in characters, no account required Import your own VRM avatar, plus VRMA dances, motions and stages — one-time US$9.90 unlock, no subscription Desktop interaction: cursor tracking, reactions to touch, drag and resize, idle motion Movement that follows whatever the user is playing A Workshop for managing characters, motions, dances and stages, with 3D previews Text and voice conversation with a persona and TTS voice configured per character. Chat history stays on the device; chat requires an internet connection Distribution Distributed through the Microsoft Store and direct download. Built and maintained by an independent developer. The app itself is closed source; the GitHub repository is the official home for bug reports, feature requests and release notes. Status Not raising, and not actively looking to sell the project — happy to talk to makers working on VRM or desktop companions.
