Parcel Duty - Sell Project

Parcel Duty tells an online shopper what customs will charge on their parcel, and — the part no other calculator does — which published rule produced each line, when it took effect, and a link to the customs authority that issued it. It prices parcels into the US from 84 origin countries, and out of the US into the EU and four Asian markets, in English, German, French and Spanish. WHAT IS BUILT 414 prerendered pages. A pure calculation engine with 228 passing tests — no I/O, no clock, so the same parcel always gives the same auditable breakdown. Two live products through Polar as merchant of record ($10 PDF report, $19 batch of up to 500 parcels), so VAT and sales tax are remitted for you rather than by you. 152 Open Graph images generated at build time. A daily GitHub Action that re-reads all 15 cited source pages and reports if any published figure moved. No database, no accounts, no server state — it runs on a free Vercel plan. Each of the 27 EU country pages states that member state's own import VAT (17% in Luxembourg to 27% in Hungary) and prices a parcel into it, so they are distinct pages rather than one page with the country name swapped. WHAT IS HONESTLY NOT BUILT Zero traffic and zero revenue. It was never submitted to Search Console and carries no analytics — there is no traffic history because none was ever measured. The checkout works end to end; nothing has been sold through it. The domain is not included; you point your own. The Polar account does not transfer — you create your own and recreate two products, about an hour. THE ONGOING WORK YOU ARE BUYING Customs rates move every few months. Keeping them current is 2-4 hours of research, 4-6 times a year. The repo defends against neglect: the build warns at 30 days and refuses to build at 90 rather than quietly serving stale numbers to people making money decisions. That burden is also the moat — it is why the incumbents aimed at commercial importers never bothered to serve shoppers.
