About HanziLens

A work-in-progress Chrome extension for learning Chinese from screen captures

HanziLens is a Chrome extension (in early development) that lets you snip Chinese text from your screen — movie subtitles, manga, comics — and instantly get the meaning, pinyin, and a word-by-word breakdown. The extension is available on the Chrome Web Store but is far from finished: no user accounts, no SRS/collections, no billing system, and many improvements planned. The codebase is clean TypeScript with a well-documented architecture, making it a good starting point for someone who wants to build on the foundation or learn from the approach. Currently early access with a small number of users.

Reason for selling

I built this as a personal project to learn Chinese while working on a different startup. The extension is on the Chrome Web Store and the core feature works, but it needs significant work to become a real product (user auth, SRS system, proper billing, marketing, growth, etc.). I'd rather sell it to someone who can dedicate the time to finish it. The codebase is clean and well-documented.
