About Timeline Visualizer
Privacy-first travel tools: Google Maps Timeline to video, in your browser
Timeline Visualizer is a growing collection of privacy-first travel tools that run entirely in the browser — nothing you load is ever uploaded to a server. What it does Flagship tool: drop in the Timeline.json exported from Google Maps, pick a date range and music, and get a 9:16 animated travel video — your real route on a map, a moving marker, date and distance counters, and a final zoom-out. Ready for Reels and TikTok. Privacy zone: detects your home and workplace on your device and blurs them in the rendered video, so sharing a route never means publishing your address. Companion tool: a countries-visited map generated from your photos or Timeline data, read entirely in the browser. How it's built No backend, no account, no upload: Canvas draws each frame, WebCodecs encodes the H.264, and the site ships as static files. The video tool builds on the MIT-licensed open-source google-timeline-visualizer project (an Android app), rebuilt for the web so nothing needs installing. Pricing The core tools are free with no signup. A one-time $2.99 Pro unlock adds map styles, a recap card, custom markers and music — no subscription. The site also maintains guides for the messy parts, like how to export Google Maps Timeline on Android and iPhone, and fixing an empty Timeline.json export.
