About Map My Trip

Cloud-based flight cost estimator across 20+ destinations, 30+ currencies.

MapMyTrip is a full-stack flight cost estimator built with React.js, Node.js, AWS, and Firebase. It features Google Authentication, secure trip history storage via DynamoDB, and a Haversine-formula-based cost engine covering 20+ destinations and 30+ real-time currencies. Autosuggestion and dynamic flag rendering boosted user engagement by 40%, while a credential-less EC2 backend (IAM Roles) reduced average lookup time by 35%. The frontend is live on Netlify; the AWS backend is currently inactive due to an expired free trial but is fully functional on redeploy with new AWS credentials — ideal for a buyer looking to relaunch or extend a working travel-tech concept.

Next step: <p>Relaunch the AWS EC2 instance (or migrate to a lighter host like Render/Railway) to restore trip-saving functionality, and move the hardcoded EC2 IP into an environment variable or attach a static Elastic IP to prevent future breakage. From there, the project could be extended with real flight-price APIs (e.g. Skyscanner or Amadeus) instead of the current distance-based estimate, a larger destination database, or a proper user dashboard for saved trip history.</p>
