Project details

Next step: WebOps has significant room for commercialization. A buyer could convert the existing internal platform into a hosted SaaS product for MSPs, digital agencies, hosting providers, website-management companies, municipalities, associations, or other organizations responsible for large portfolios of websites. Potential growth paths include multi-tenant SaaS hosting, subscription pricing by website or portfolio size, white-label deployments, managed monitoring services, expanded integrations, mobile access, broader automation, additional AI-assisted workflows, and deeper reporting and benchmarking across customer portfolios. Because the core application, operational workflows, testing framework, security controls, documentation, and administration structure are already established, a buyer can focus much of its effort on commercialization, infrastructure scaling, branding, sales, and customer acquisition rather than starting with a blank software product.

The sale includes the complete WebOps application source code and transferable product IP, automated regression test suite, technical architecture and security documentation, Data Dictionary, API and Integration Reference, System Administration Guide, Employee User Guide, Release Management and Change Control SOP, Security Controls Matrix, Incident Response and Disaster Recovery Runbook, Architecture Decision Log, Known Issues and Technical Debt Register, controlled documentation framework, backup/restore procedures, and release-validation materials. The buyer will also receive reasonable transition and knowledge-transfer assistance to support handoff of the product. MSFES, Ember Fire, MSFES customer relationships, client operational data, credentials, private keys, production secrets, unrelated MSFES intellectual property, and other MSFES business assets are expressly excluded from the sale.

Reason for selling

WebOps was originally built to solve a real internal operational need at MSFES. As the platform grew, we realized the underlying workflows, monitoring capabilities, and management tools could be valuable well beyond our own organization. MSFES serves organizations in the volunteer fire service, and our core mission remains focused on helping those departments operate more effectively. Rather than building a separate commercial software business around WebOps, we believe the right buyer can take the platform much further while MSFES reinvests the proceeds back into the services, technology, and resources we provide to the volunteer fire departments and emergency-service organizations we support. For us, this is an opportunity to turn something useful we built internally into value that can ultimately be put back into the communities and clients at the center of our mission.
