A community-music platform with 92% profit potential with online live concerts
Asteroid: an ad free, community focused music streaming platform with 92% MARGIN POTENTIAL built around live online concerts for artists and fans Asteroid is a music streaming platform built on one rule: every artist gets the same shot at being heard. No ads, no recommendation algorithm, no paid placement. Discovery is randomized, so a first time uploader and a 50,000 follower act appear the same way to a listener. It runs as an iOS app with a web presence at asteroid8.net. The platform exists because streaming discovery is pay to play. Independent artists get buried unless they buy playlist placement or feed an algorithm that rewards volume and virality. I started building Asteroid in early 2025 after watching artists in online communities describe the same problem over and over: the music is fine, the distribution is rigged. Asteroid removes the ranking layer entirely instead of trying to tune it. What is built and working today: iOS app on Firebase (auth, storage, database, hosting) Web presence on GitHub Pages at asteroid8.net Artist upload and profile flow Live online concert feature, already used for real events Electron desktop tooling for admin and ops Python and Node automation scripts for artist outreach and content pipelines Motion design video assets built in HTML and CSS, rendered to MP4 with Playwright Traction is early and I will be straight about it. A small group of artists is onboarded, live concerts have run as proof of (concept, and revenue is zero. Current numbers: 319 registered artists, listeners, 119 tracks uploaded, 75 App Store downloads. A v4 iOS build is in progress. This is a working product with a real audience niche, not a finished business. What transfers in the sale: Full source code for the iOS app, web front end, and Electron tooling Firebase project and all data asteroid8.net domain App Store listing and assets, subject to Apple app transfer rules Brand, logo, and motion design asset library All artist and outreach contact lists Growth work is already done and documented, so a buyer is not starting from a blank page. That includes a cold email campaign to scraped SoundCloud artists, a Reddit community strategy, a referral program that rewards artists with homepage placement, a creator outreach PDF aimed at music reaction channels, influencer plans built around Collabstr and Creator.co with genre matched pairing, and research on the LA independent musician scene as a physical acquisition channel. The core insight in all of it: onboard the artist and the fanbase follows. I am selling because my focus has moved and Asteroid needs someone who can push it daily. By purchasing this startup, you are buying roughly 18 months of build work, a shipped iOS app, a live domain, a defined brand position, and a growth playbook, for less than the cost of a few weeks of contract development. The obvious paths for a buyer are artist subscriptions, paid live concert ticketing, or running it as a niche community platform. I will do a full handover call and stay available for 30 days of technical questions.
Next step: <p><strong>The fastest move is switching on revenue</strong>. 178 fans already attended live concerts with nothing to pay for, so adding checkout to a proven behavior is day one income rather than a new product to build. Do this before touching anything else.</p><p>Then grow the artist side, because both revenue lines scale with artist count. The cold outreach automation and the referral program that rewards artists with homepage placement are already built and running, so it is a matter of turning up volume, not writing new tooling.</p><p><br></p><p>After that, ship Android and a full web player. iOS only leaves most of the listener market untouched, and the Firebase backend already supports both, so it is front end work rather than a rebuild.</p><p>Longer term, the obvious extensions are merch, artist collaboration tools, and paid features around live events. A buyer running a label, an artist collective, or an existing music platform could also fold the artist base straight into what they already have.</p>
