About Sargam - Online Sargam Notation Writer
Write, play, organize, and share Indian classical Sargam notation online.
Sargam.pro Sargam.pro is a browser-based notation editor built specifically for Hindustani and Indian classical music. The Problem Indian classical compositions are often written in notebooks, photographed, shared through messaging apps, or recreated in generic documents. This makes notation difficult to organize, edit, preserve, play, and share. Most existing music notation applications focus on Western staff notation and do not naturally support swar, taal, matra, vibhag, sam, khali, lyrics, ornaments, or the structure of Indian classical compositions. The Solution Sargam.pro provides a dedicated digital writing surface for this workflow. Select a taal and the editor creates the correct matra and vibhag structure with appropriate taal markers. Enter swar using: A computer keyboard The built-in interactive piano A connected MIDI keyboard An imported MIDI file The editor supports lyrics, chhand, kan, meend, ghaseet, murki, krintan, sustain, rests, and octave markings. Write, Listen, and Practise The built-in notation player lets users hear their composition, adjust the tempo, and enable looping. A metronome supports taal-based practice, while Taal Sync helps align keyboard and MIDI input with the active beat. Users can also switch between Sargam and Western note names, making compositions easier to understand across different musical backgrounds. Who Is It For? Teachers Create clean lesson material and share the same readable notation with every student instead of repeatedly sending photographs of handwritten pages. Students Organize lessons and compositions, reopen them for practice, follow the taal structure visually, check swar using playback, and write lyrics alongside notation. Musicians Digitize and preserve repertoire that would otherwise remain scattered across notebooks, photographs, and documents. Composers Enter ideas through the piano or MIDI keyboard, hear the result, refine ornaments and rhythmic groupings, and continue editing later. Sargam.pro is useful for harmonium players, singers, instrumentalists, gurus, performers, composers, and independent learners without requiring them to learn Western staff notation. Save and Share Compositions can be: Saved online and reopened for editing Shared through short public links Exported as PDF Exported as MIDI Viewed using Sargam or Western notation Sargam.pro brings writing, organization, playback, preservation, and sharing together in one focused platform for the Indian classical music community.
