About FarmConnect

Connects farmers directly to companies, eliminating middlemen for fair prices.

FarmConnect is a two-sided web marketplace connecting farmers directly to companies, removing costly middlemen from the crop supply chain. Farmers register and list crops with quantity, price, location, and photo. Companies browse listings and express interest directly. The platform includes a full interest-to-deal workflow: farmers confirm or reject interest, both sides can message each other, confirmed deals mark crops sold, and both parties can rate each other afterward. Built with Python/Flask, HTML/CSS templates, and JSON-based data storage. Presented at NextGenHacks hackathon. Multilingual support included (English, Telugu, Hindi). Current state: working functional MVP, no live users/revenue yet — sold as source code + concept for a buyer to build on further.

Next step: <p>A buyer could: (1) move data storage from JSON files to a real database (PostgreSQL/MongoDB) for scale, (2) add proper password hashing and session-based authentication, (3) polish the UI/UX for a public launch, (4) add payment integration for in-app transactions, and (5) expand language support beyond English, Telugu, and Hindi for other Indian states. The core farmer-company matching and deal workflow is already built and functional.</p>
