DeskBuddy — Browser Companion - Sell Project
Project Overview
DeskBuddy puts a small animated companion in your browser tabs. It walks alongThe page edge, climbs, naps, and reacts when you click it, then gets out of theway when you need to focus.WHAT'S BUILT (all working, not mockups):• Chrome MV3 extension (WXT + React). Companion renders in an isolated Shadow DOM layer so it never interferes with the sites you visit.• Custom sprite animation engine with 9 states (idle, walk, jump, click, emote, sleep, climb, fall, sit) and Shimeji-style physics: gravit...

What's Included
Source code, All related data
ALSO INCLUDED • Full monorepo: Chrome MV3 extension, Next.js marketing site + dashboard, and the shared character/animation package. • Complete payment layer, built but never switched on: Stripe Checkout (one-time unlock), signature-verified idempotent webhook, Google sign-in (Auth.js), Prisma/Postgres entitlement model, and a server-gated route for paid sprite art. • 43 spec + launch documents, including a drafted Chrome Web Store listing, privacy policy, and permission justifications. • Logo, icon source (SVG), and all site design assets. • The Vercel deployment, and a walkthrough call to hand it over. PLEASE NOTE (I'd rather you hear it from me than find it later) • Not on the Chrome Web Store. You publish under your own developer account ($5 one-time Google fee). Nothing to transfer, nothing pending review. • No custom domain — the site runs on a vercel.app subdomain. You'd point your own domain at it. • Sprite art licensing: the 6 characters use third-party sprite art. I will provide the exact source and license for each sheet, and if any licence does not permit transfer to a buyer, I will say so plainly and adjust the price or swap the asset. I am not going to sell you a licensing problem.
Reason for Selling
I built DeskBuddy to the point where the hard engineering is done. The physics engine, the Shadow DOM layer, the full Stripe + auth + paywall stack. What it needs next is a sprite-art budget and a sustained marketing push, and I have neither the time nor the art budget to do that justice right now. I'd rather it launch under someone who can than sit in my repo unlaunched. Nothing is broken here; it's just unshipped.

Technical Implementation Effort
Next Development Phase: <p>The next owner is inheriting a launch, not a rebuild. Concretely:</p><p><br></p><p>SHIP IT (days, not weeks)</p><p>• Publish to the Chrome Web Store — the listing copy, privacy policy, and</p><p> permission justifications are already drafted in /docs/launch.</p><p>• Flip one constant (CHROME_WEB_STORE_URL in site-config.ts) and every install</p><p> button across the site switches from "coming soon" to a live Add-to-Chrome.</p><p>• Point a custom domain at the existing Vercel deploy.</p><p><br></p><p>TURN ON REVENUE (an afternoon)</p><p>• Add your own Stripe, Google OAuth, and Postgres keys (all documented in</p><p> .env.example), run one migration, and Pro is live. The checkout, webhook,</p><p> entitlement model, and server-gated premium art route are already built and</p><p> tested — no payment code to write.</p><p>• Buy or commission sprite packs, drop them in premium-assets/, and set</p><p> premium: true on the seed. The lock badges, the paywall, and the checkout</p><p> pick them up automatically.</p><p><br></p><p>OBVIOUS GROWTH LEVERS</p><p>• Firefox + Edge: the extension is built with WXT, which targets all three from</p><p> the same codebase. Near-zero extra work for 2 more stores.</p><p>• Custom character upload as a Pro feature: the manifest system already accepts</p><p> arbitrary sprite sheets, so users bringing their own Shimeji is a small build</p><p> and an extremely strong differentiator.</p><p>• The Shimeji / desktop-pet / anime-fandom audiences are large, underserved,</p><p> and highly shareable — this product demos itself in a 10-second video.</p><p><br></p>
