About Captop | Local First Screenshot Manager
Tired of screenshot chaos, I built a screenshot organizer.
Hey — I'm the solo dev behind Captop, a screenshot organizer I built after a year of losing research I'd carefully collected in screenshots I could never find again. The idea: instead of a folder full of cryptically named PNG files, you organize screenshots into Workbooks (projects), Folders (topics/sources), with Tags that work across everything and Notes for per-screenshot context. I made a deliberate call to keep everything local — IndexedDB storage, no server, no uploads. Partly because I was screenshotting sensitive things (work docs, API keys, private research) and didn't want them in the cloud. Partly because it makes the app more honest — you own your data completely. Free: 100 screenshots, all features. Basic: $30/yr (500). Pro: $40/yr (unlimited). Chrome extension for capture, web app for organization. Stage: live and shipping, 50 users, starting to actually tell people it exists. looking for honest feedback from other indie builders — what would make you try it or skip it?
