MyFinanceTools is a solo-developer side project that grew into a full personal finance platform. What started as frustration with ad-heavy calculators and clunky spreadsheets became a suite of 13 free financial calculators, a multi-account portfolio tracker, and a shared expense management system. The calculators are 100% free — no signup, no ads, no gated results. They cover everything from compound interest and mortgage payments to Monte Carlo portfolio simulations and FIRE planning. For registered users, the platform offers portfolio tracking across 8 account types (stocks, ETFs, crypto, pension, real estate, debt, alternatives, cash) with real-time prices and multi-currency support. The newest feature is shared expense accounts with splitting and settle-up — great for couples, roommates, or travel groups. Tech stack: Astro.js + React frontend, Supabase backend, Stripe payments, hosted on Vercel. Available in 4 languages (EN, DE, ES, FR) with 24+ currencies. Freemium model: Free tier is genuinely useful. Premium adds daily snapshots, historical data, and advanced analytics.
