About Online Integrated Library Information System(OILIS)
My project contains four libraries named intermediate, under graduate, post graduate and engineering belongs to a organization under single server and needs online access
ABSTRACT ONLINE INTEGRATED LIBRARY INFORMATION SYSTEM(OILIS) Online Integrated Library Information System is a project which aims in developing a computerized system to maintain all the daily work of a library. In this librarian is referred as users. The previous system is able to handle the library of a single institution. In this user can able to add, update and search for book catalogue details, student details. Users can issue books, can return books, can maintain fine payers list. The newly evolving system is a centralized system, in which admin can authenticate the users belongs to different institutions libraries under a single organization, and can also able to view the details that are maintained by users. In this users can manage student details, can manage book catalogue, can manage books issues, can manage book returns, can manage fine payers list. It gives a sophisticated access to all the libraries that belongs to a single organization. The Admin can add, update, delete and search the details of users and admin can also access the libraries information by logging as a user. The User can able to add, update and search the student details. Users can also be able to add, update and search the book details. Users can add, update, and search the issue, return and fine payers list. Existing System: In olden days, if an organization contains several libraries located at far distances, then they need to maintain separate server for each library and separate admin for each library. Proposed System: Normally a library information system contains a single library transactions, this will not work for a organization having multiple libraries located at far distances and didn't have centralized access by a single admin and having a separate server and admin for each library. I Overcome this problem by arranging four libraries belong to a same organization named intermediate ,under graduate, post graduate and engineering library portals(as per my concern) and provided a centralized admin to maintain the details of four library librarians. All these four libraries information's located on a single server. We need online access for accessing the project. We don't need to maintain different servers and different admins for each library maintenance. This will reduce the cost very much.We provide security to each library using username and password. The librarian belong to one library can't access another library information with his password. He can access his library information only. But the admin can access any library information. Each library have book catalog, student information, issue , return , fine payers list. We can access a record with any one field belong to that record. PLAY ROLES; ADMIN: Create users’ information for each library including user id and password for a user. User then use this user id and password for login into corresponding library. USER: User login into corresponding library and maintain student, book, issue, return, fine payers list. The user of one library can’t access the other library information. Automatic updation: When a book was issued for a student, then the noofbooks field of student information was incremented to (one)1 and book status was modified to ‘Not Available’. When a book was returned by a student, then the noofbooks field of student information was decremented to one and books status was modified to ‘Available’. When a book was returned by a student, then the fine was calculated automatically based on difference of due date and return date. The total fine collected by a library until now was also calculated automatically.
