Detailed Description

Introducing a next-generation translator that will revolutionize language learning, making courses and lessons obsolete — and potentially reducing time to learn a language to just weeks or even days, thanks to planned features.

(Project now open for bidding at Flippa)

LightLang is the first translator with automatic text highlighting on hover — for characters, words, sentences, and paragraphs. Unlike traditional solutions, you don’t need to manually select anything: simply hover your cursor and press a key. This reduces the average translation time to just 100 ms, compared to 1500–3000 ms with manual selection.

This takes translation to a whole new level: now it can be used not just for translating, but for learning languages right in your browser, while visiting your usual websites. You're not just translating — you're reading in the original language from the very beginning, comparing full sentence translations with word-level meanings. Browsing becomes real language practice.

No more courses, lessons, flashcards, or memorization drills: words stick more easily because you're seeing them in real context.

You can learn a language intensively, reading articles, blogs, and texts — or passively, without setting aside special time to study. Frequently encountered words start to stick on their own, growing your vocabulary naturally and gradually.

Auto-highlighting makes the translation process so fast and effortless that it drops below the threshold of laziness. You stop skipping over recurring words, and the risk of abandoning your learning drops significantly.

All this makes LightLang truly unique — but to appreciate its impact, let’s look back for a moment.

The previous generation of browser extensions once took a big step forward too: they made it possible to translate text directly on the page without leaving your tab. That made them convenient for quick translations — but they were still not ideal for learning. The main reason? Manual selection — it still required separate effort and action.

LightLang goes further: it removes that barrier, automates the process, and for the first time makes translation a truly seamless and natural way to learn a language continuously.
