Nova is using cold plasma in order to improve medical implants
Implants are used in a variety of medical applications - Orthopedics, Spine Surgery, Dental Implants, Plastic Surgery and many more. Studies have shown that highly hydrophilic implants improve fixation, early loading and may reduce infections. Plasma is well known for its surface activation properties, but the hydrophilic properties of implants tend to deteriorate between manufacturing date and the actual time of implantation. Nova is developing and commercializing a significant platform technology that enables the surface modification of implantable devices, via cold plasma, on-site, just prior to implantation.
