About ReciPal

Database nutrition analysis, nutrition labeling, costing, and ingredient lists for food companies.

I started a beef jerky company with friends, it eventually grew big enough that we were in stores and we needed nutrition fact labels. I decided to do the research, realized everything either sucked or was crazy expensive, and built ReciPal.

Who they are looking for

Someone that's willing to test, measure and repeat. Marketing or a willingness to learn marketing would be the biggest thing. Building a web presence and increasing our rank for key search terms is important. So blogging, guest blogging on other sites, and getting quality links back to our site would all increase organic visitors a good bit. Ability to talk to existing customers and sales targets is important as well. I had really good success doing direct sales, but I don't have time to do that now. Mostly, an open mind and willingness to try new things and see what sticks. I've started A/B testing basic things, but there's a lot more to test, which I'd like to keep doing as we grow traffic (and we'll be to test more rapidly with increased traffic). Coding skills would be great, but not necessary. I still have time to update the site and add features, but marketing is tougher for me to keep up with because it can't be done in spurts.
