A 13-year-old ebook that's made me over $7,000 profit
I'd call this an established starter website. For that individual who'll appreciate knowing what they're buying has sold in the past and well. $7K well, in fact. Not bad for a scrappy digital download. I purchased youhavebeenserved.net on Flippa 13 years ago when I was acquiring small websites around the $200 to $300 price range with little to no revenue and doing what we've all had to do, and that's cut our teeth on digital products and then learn how to market them. But when I spotted this, I thought it was super cool. I liked the design (and still do), but I also liked the cause element of it. Helping others become acquainted with their potential new career choice is an organic and easy fit for my personality. It was a pretty solid deal from my newbie perspective. Solid enough for me to leap from buying websites in the hundreds of dollars only and then, in one swoop, thousands. The seller's claims of six hundred to a thousand dollars a month were comforting and enough to get me over the line. (Well, let's just say if you take a look, you'll see that individual's account was soon banned - not in time for me to save myself tho,). The truth surrounding its revenue was much closer to zero than one thousand bucks a month. The options were clear. Right it off as a bad joke, or make it work. So I put some hours into marketing it and was pleasantly surprised when sales began trickling in. Around $100 to$300 a month. And it stayed pretty steady, give or take $100. So as it's turned out, it's made $7K plus from this wee bad boy. Rev proof: Between 2009 to 2013 totaled: $5500 - (280 sales at $19) - Ave $1100 per annum. Between 2014 to 2017, it totaled: $2200 - (using the past year's average of less 50%just to be on the safe side) $7700 all up. What's Included: A classic old-school HTML site. Next step: <p><strong>My suggestions:</strong></p><p>Three things.</p><p>First up, Process Serving is one of those evergreen niches; and it does even better when a recession is in play. Given we're about to walk into one (in the US anyway), I believe the timing is pretty good now.</p><p><br></p><p>Secondly, I was always miffed by how well it did sell for a scrappy little ebook and how few refunds came in. But I never liked the product and began rebuilding it as soon as I got it. But I ran out of energy/time as I started working at a mammoth startup in LA, (producing educational content and online learning stuff is what I do). It kept me too busy after hours to get to it, and I always felt a little bad about it. But it kept selling.</p><p><br></p><p>So no surprise with my final point.</p><p>Throw it back up with a bit of love behind it while you acclimate with the niche. And begin to refresh the ebook and continue to sell it, but work on turning it into a micro online course and building out the line extensions according to what your customers need. </p><p><br></p><p>I've done this with many of my digital products that need refreshing.
