Pay attention to the outside of the grid. If you're looking for the highest number, put it in a convenient spot. The larger sums need to be created around that same corner so that they can be combined when they match. If you acquire the higher numbers in the center, it's easy to get stuck in a maze of unreachable digits and have to start a new game before long.
