Scientific Testing of Hair Properties| Lemma Labs - Showcase Project

Lemma Labs puts customers in control of their hair with diagnostic testing, arming them with the information they need to satisfy their hair care needs. 

With our product, hairID, a customer mails a small sample of her hair to our lab, where we conduct testing. We then send her a personalized assessment of her hair’s condition and its needs. We address customers’ most pressing concerns, to include: managing frizz, thinning hair, protein-moisture balance, how to manage scalp oiliness, and how to choose products compatible with their hair types. Instead of manufacturing products ourselves, we have amassed a database of products from popular retailers and created an algorithm to match a customer’s hair properties to a product’s formulation. Along with product suggestions, we also recommend an optimal hair care routine, detailing application frequency and methods. 

We started Lemma Labs because of a glaring problem: there are so many products out there to treat just about every hair characteristic or condition, but there aren’t easily accessible solutions to identify what your hair needs in the first place. This leaves consumers to guess and experiment, often unsuccessfully. Our product solves that problem and benefits not only customers’ hair, wallets, self esteem, and the environment in the process.
