About InkOut PDF
Redact PDFs in your browser, then check the output
Permanent PDF redaction in your browser. Marked pages are rebuilt as images, the whole file is scanned for the hidden text, and nothing is uploaded. InkOut PDF is a browser-based tool for redacting PDFs properly. A black rectangle drawn in most PDF editors only sits on top of the text, so the text can still be selected, copied or extracted. InkOut removes it instead. You open a PDF, draw boxes over what should go (Pro can also search for words and mark every match), and export. Each page you redact is rendered to an image with the boxes burned in and placed into a brand-new PDF. Document metadata (including XMP), form fields, attachments and JavaScript aren't carried over. Pages you don't redact keep their text, though links and form fields on them stop working. After export, InkOut re-opens the file on its own and checks it: no extractable text on redacted pages, zero matches for the covered text, empty metadata, and a scan of every object in the whole file. If a check fails, you see "Review needed" and the download stays disabled. It is a check, not a guarantee, so review the result before you share it. The file is processed on your device and never uploaded. The site uses no analytics, ads or cookies. A free redaction checker, with no page limit, shows which pages of someone else's "redacted" PDF still have text under dark boxes. Limits: redacted pages become images, so their text is no longer selectable and files can get larger. Keyword search only finds text in the PDF's text layer; there is no OCR, so scanned pages need manual boxes. Pricing: free for files up to 5 pages with manual boxes. Pro adds unlimited pages, keyword search-and-redact and multiple files, as a $4.99 24-hour pass (one-time) or Pro Monthly at $7.99 per month.
